Joining a Community Garden
Tips for joining a community garden
Many community garden plots fill up in the early spring! It’s not always easy finding a garden plot near your house. Start searching in the fall season because the earlier you look, the more likely you are to get one.
There are often fees associated. Community gardens are almost always run by volunteers, but there are always costs associated with managing a garden. Plots usually come with a seasonal rental fee
Gloves and equipment. It’s a good idea to make sure you have everything you need before getting started. Things like gloves, a trowel, a hat, sunscreen, and a reusable container for water will come in very handy!
Sometimes, the best way to join is to ask someone at the garden. Contact information for community gardens can quickly become outdated. The most straightforward way to learn more about the garden may be to ask someone who is gardening in the space you’d like to join.
