Oak Street Cottages Revitalization Project

About the project

The Oak Street Cottages Revitalization Project in Fairburn, Georgia, aims to enhance affordable housing for low- to moderate-income individuals by promoting safe, energy-efficient, and inclusive living environments. The project focuses on installing energy-efficient appliances, upgrading flooring, enhancing safety features, and promoting resident health and well-being.

Phased Approach:
Phase 1: Conduct property assessments, develop renovation plans, and secure necessary permits.
Phase 2: Install high-quality flooring using skilled contractors.
Phase 3: Install energy-efficient appliances to reduce utility costs.
Phase 4: Add safety features and improve indoor air quality and communal spaces.
Phase 5: Monitor affordability, adjust rental rates, and explore funding options to reduce tenant costs.

Through strategic execution, the project aims to foster a sense of pride, dignity, and belonging while ensuring long-term affordability and sustainability.

Our Milestones

We’re thrilled to announce the completion of House 1 of the Oak Street Cottages, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our first tenant into their new affordable rental home! This marks a significant milestone in our mission to provide accessible and affordable housing for everyone in our community.

While our original goal was to complete all five units at once, we’ve made incredible progress:

5 roofs completed
House 1 fully renovated
House 2 is now 30% complete!

This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of NeighborWorks America, Wells Fargo, Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and our amazing faithful volunteers—your contributions have been invaluable.

We understand that there’s more work to be done, but our determination remains strong. If it takes completing these cottages one house at a time, we’re committed to seeing this vision through for the families who need it most.

Affordable housing is more than just a roof over someone’s head—it’s a cornerstone for stability, dignity, and opportunity. Together, we are creating a community where everyone has a chance to thrive.

Let’s celebrate this milestone and continue building hope, one home at a time!
