Impact of Care & Conserve Program: New Plumbing and Pipe Repairs for Ms. Bowen

At Nehemiah Project, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how investing in home/plumbing repairs can have a profound impact on our communities.

Thanks to the funds we've received from the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management through the Care & Conserve Plumbing Repair Program, we've helped Atlanta residents like Ms. Bowen get new pipes installed.

Earlier this year, our team went to her home shortly after she noticed rust-colored water coming from her faucets. Concerned about her family's safety but not sure she could afford the cost of the repairs needed, she reached out to Nehemiah at the recommendation of a family member.

Ms. Bowen met the qualifications so Nehemiah Project CDC jumped in to help her.

In addition to new pipes, Ms. Bowen received a new water heater, a low-flow toilet, a secure, new base beneath her bathtub and a device on her showerhead and tub faucet to conserve water.

Home repairs are not merely about fixing structures; they help our seniors stay safe so they can "age in place." Home repairs are also the cornerstone of community development.
